'SELLERS STANDARD RATE' POSTAGE ISSUES:
'Sellers standard rate' postage... A good or bad thing?This topic has been an issue with many eBay members I am sure, certainly with members I am in regular contact with.
My experiences are such that I will not buy again, from sellers who are less than open about their postal service/charges.
Surely there are more than sufficient options available when listing, to cover just about every eventuality? If not, sellers have various options open to them to be specific in the listing content!
The definition of 'sellers standard rate' to some... Charge as much as you can get away with... Send as cheaply as possible!!!
Below is a copy of an e-mail/letter recently sent to eBay, the contents of which are self explanatory, I hope.

Yet again I have experienced a major headache with a seller who does not offer specific postal services. Instead offering only 'sellers standard rate'. In a nutshell I paid £10.99 for delivery and 13 days later still no sign of my purchase! The matter is presently being dealt with via a PayPal claim. My question to you... Why, oh why do buyers still have to contend with this issue? Surely the comprehensive postal services available when listing are more than sufficient to cover every possible eventuality?

It's high time eBay removed this dubious postal option. Surely it would be better for all concerned to BE SPECIFIC and not lead people 'up the garden path'. Virtually every time I have purchased when postage has been via 'sellers standard rate', I have encountered problems with poor service and protracted delivery.
